Final de recorrido de El Baile Condal con tres volúmenes que reflejan la heterogeneidad de sonidos y discursos de la electrónica del presente en Barcelona. Nos hemos acostumbrado ya al talento y la amplitud de propuestas de la ciudad, y estos tres compilados son perfecto reflejo de esa realidad, del aquí y el ahora.

El house es el lenguaje madre que unifica este primer capítulo del tríptico. Un house mutante, magnético y elegante en manos de tres de los nombres clave de la escena de los últimos años: Marc Piñol (maravilloso “Lliure Albir”, publicado en Struments en 2017), Velmondo (aka de Arnau Obiols, aquí con una deriva tribal y ácida francamente estimulante e inédita en su repertorio) y Begun, con un medio tiempo ligeramente a contrapié que mira directamente a las Islas Kiribati, del Océano Pacífico.

Museless cambia el rumbo del disco adentrándose en terrenos new wave y synth pop con excelentes resultados, y Xols toma el testigo con la melodía retro de videojuego que perfila su tech-house ultra-efectivo para la pista. Otros dos grandes de la ciudad, Phran y Bruce Lee, abordan el género desde una perspectiva lúdica, epidérmica y tropical. Mientras, Shadow Traxx (proyecto del mítico Albert Kosmos junto al italiano Oddzero) lanza un clarísimo homenaje a los 90 y la ruta de Valencia; Siwo (mozambiqueño de nacimiento, barcelonés de adopción) nos regala una perla deslumbrante de afro-house, y Mantra tira de acid, latigazos darkwave y melodía bleep.

No nos olvidamos de otro invitado que se suma a la fiesta, y además llama al timbre el primero: el trance. Un trance sutil, en cualquier caso, que expande felizmente el midtempo sensual de Umo. Y si Umo abre, el que cierra la puerta al final es Headbirds, una vez más atesorando su envidiable olfato melódico y dando forma a otra de esas perlas a medio camino entre géneros que tan bien domina.

We have already become accustomed to the talents and breadth of the city musical vista, with these three compilations a perfect reflection of that reality, of the here and now.

House is the mother tongue that unifies this first chapter of the triptych. A mutant, magnetic and elegant house in the hands of three key names on the scene in recent years: Marc Piñol (with the wonderful “Lliure Albir”, published in Struments in 2017), Velmondo (aka by Arnau Obiols, present here with surging tribal, acidic and downright exhilarating,
unreleased sounds and Begun, with a slightly off-the-beat halftime number which looks directly at the Kiribati Islands, in the Pacific Ocean.

Museless changes course into new wave and synth pop terrains, with excellent results, and Xols then takes the lead with a retro video game melody that runs thought this ultra-effective tech-house track.
Two other greats in the city, Phran and Bruce Lee, approach the genre from a playful, epidermal and tropical perspective. Meanwhile, Shadow Traxx (a project by the legendary Albert Kosmos together with the Italian Oddzero) launches a tribute to the 90s and the Valencia scene. Siwo (Mozambican by birth, Barcelona by adoption) gives us a dazzling pearl of Afro-house, and Mantra brings acid, darkwave lashes and bleep melody.

Another guest who joins the party bringing a subtle trance and sensual midtempo is Umo. Umo opens the doors to Headbirds who follows with his impeccable melodic sensibilities, creating cross-genre pearls that he masters so well.
