Estos diez temas, secuenciados por la leyenda Marc Piñol nos muestran una Barcelona soñadora y naíf que despertaba a las sonoridades electrónicas. BombJack, un experto en breaks y videojuegos, fue el representante local de la escena Big Beat con su único LP “Insert Coin” (Dona Lee, 2000). El polivalente productor mexicano Professor Angel Dust (que todavía sigue en activo como Professor Angel Sound) fue el estandarte y la conexión con la escena latina y hip-hop. Teen Marcianas aportan “Park Hotel”, un número más cercano al house de lo que solían ser sus divertidos y bizarros directos y EPs para el sello Mini-Funk. “Aurora (remastered 2021)” de Alex Martín fue publicada en 1994 a nombre de Iberian en el sello de Laurent Garnier, F Communications. Después de tantos años mantiene la misma elegancia planeadora, digna de los momentos más líricos de los mismísimos Orbital. Código de Tempo extraen este “No More Limits”, a medio camino entre el trance y el makineo desacomplejado, de su único LP “Private Works” (Al·leluia, 1996). G.O.S., representa cómo el espíritu experimental puede hermanarse sin complejos con la contundencia y el baile. “Hard On (Acido mix)” de J. Graü es una DJ tool en toda regla publicada originalmente en 1998 en Pro-Zak Trax, el sello de César de Melero. Samples de spoken word y frecuencias oníricas en el nervioso y acelerado “Loca” de Feel Action. Planeo, ¡¡flauta!! y breaks de incipiente drum’n’bass del pratense Sloan (todavía en activo como Pedro Pina) para cerrar su único LP “Mata Dolores Kills Pain” (Donna Lee, 1998). Funk Empire deberían de haber sido nuestros Daft Punk. “Music” simboliza a la perfección la madurez de la escena barcelonesa después de una década de aprendizaje y crecimiento.

These ten tracks, sequenced by the legend Marc Piñol, show us a dreamy and naïve Barcelona that was awakening to electronic reverberations. BombJack, an expert in breaks and video games, was the local representative of the Big Beat scene back in the day with his only LP "Insert Coin” (Dona Lee, 2000). The versatile Mexican producer Professor Angel Dust (still active as Professor Angel Sound) was the standard bearer and the connection to the local Latin and hip-hop scene. Teen Marcianas contributes "Park Hotel", closer to house than their fun and bizarre live sets and EPs for the Mini-Funk label used to be. "Aurora (remastered 2021)" by Alex Martin was released in 1994 under the Iberian's name on Laurent Garnier's label,
F Communications. After so many years it maintains the same gliding elegance, worthy of the more emotive moments of Orbital themselves. Codigo de Tempo’s track "No More Limits" shows a mid-way point between trance and straight-up acid techno from their only LP "Private Works" (Al-leluia, 1996). G.O.S.’s live extract from ’96 showed us an experimental spirit harmonising beautifully and directly for the dancefloor. "Hard On (Acido mix)" by J. Graü is a fully-fledged DJ tool originally released in 1998 on Pro-Zak Trax, César de Melero's label. Spoken word samples and dreamy frequencies are abound in Feel Action's edgy, fast-paced "Lorca". Brace yourself for classic flute samples with the artist Sloan (still active as Pedro Pina) emerging with his track on “Blada There” which featured on their only LP "Mata Dolores Kills Pain" (Donna Lee, 1998). Funk Empire should have been our Daft Punk. "Music" perfectly symbolizes the maturity of the Barcelona scene after a decade of learning and growing.
